There is no down time for living with disabilities. Professionals and support people get to go on vacation and have time to themselves and unwind and refress. I am who I am and there is no getting away from that. There are times I wish I could take a vacation from myself free from my constraints and limitations and feel free like an eagle soaring in the heavens.

Being 53, I would like to say that I can bring some life experience and perspective to living with disabilities. It is someways a different life, and this has frustrated and disappointed me, and filled me with anger.

Increasingly, I am seeing that I have been able to experiencing things that others have not, and when I have been able to achieve things through much effort, others take such accomplishments for granted.

Living with disabilities has freed me to embark on a spiritual journey where I explore, experience, and engage. I am very grateful and excited by this opportunity.

Core to the human experience is knowing ourselves, our values, potential, and moving to express and actualize them. It is as much as being as doing. We do so indivdually and collectively. It is an act of synergy. Together we are greater than we are individually. We are social beings who fulfill our individuality in communion and relationship with others as we climb the ladder of the hiearchy of needs.
