Education

Education is so important to us at San Diego People First that we include it both in our mission and our VALUE statement.

We spend much of our time and efforts educating self-advocates, professionals, and legislators. We have an educational piece on our agenda at each of our business meetings. Some times we invite guest speakers. Other times, we have a self-advocate talk on special topic. Our presentations last 20-40 minutes.

We hold leadership symposiums 4 to 6 times a year. They run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM with a half lunch break at noon. Attendees are asked to bring their lunch.

Each self-advocate organization in San Diego is invited to send two representatives to attend the trainings. The trainings consist of talking and doing activities. We ask attendees to take what they learn at the trainings back to their self-advocate groups and share it with others.
