Making a difference in the Community
An exciting part of our activities is educating parents and other community members on self-advocacy and disability awareness. We believe strongly that educating the community will open doors, open ears, and open minds to the wants, needs, and dreams of self-advocates.
In our self-advocacy presentations we share that a person does not become a strong and effective self-advocate overnight. It takes years of nurturing, supporting, caring, and love from those close to the self-advocate to foster a positive self-esteem and effective decision making skills. Self-advocates need both to successfully speak about their rights, needs, and dreams.
