San Diego People First has Accomplished the following in 2005

• Hosted the 1st Annual Tedd Bear dance, 175 people attended and over 250 teddy bears were donated to Children's Hospital
• Continued to maintain the San Diego People First Website
• Maintained the SDPF P.O. Box
• Coordinated a presentation on Self-Directed Services by representatives from the Department of Developmental Services
• Conducted another Soup's On with San Diego People First fundraiser
• Soup assembly work crew all earned their food handlers certificates
• Conducted the Westfield Works Wonders fundraiser
• Particiapted in the "Day in the Country" fundraising event for the annual self-advocacy conference and plan to assist with the 2006 event
• Hosted the 2005 conference and are busy planning the 2006 conference
• Continue to support self-advocacy in the community
• Assisted in starting two new self-advocacy groups in the North County
• Conducted voter education
• Conducted a legislative forum
• SDPF members completed the IPP Buddy training and became IPP Buddies to other self-advocates
• Made a SDPF and an IPP Buddy brochure
• Collected money for hurricane Katrina victims
• Created 30 gift baskets that were given to Rachel's Women's Shelter
• Presented on the IPP Buddy System at the Supported Life Conference in October
• Presented information on local self-advocacy activities to the State Council on Developmental Disabilities
• Conducted a panel presentation to parents at the Imperial Valley Fiesta Educativa
• Held the annual SDPF officer retreat
• Created a scrap book album to start recording the history of SDPF in addition to posting articles on the SDPF website
• Worked on strenghtening and maintaining our partnerships with TRACE and DAWN
• Conducted trainings to local day programs and Transition programs on topics such as self-advocacy, IPP Buddy System, and Voting
• Looked to gain financial support from the Foundation for Developmental Disabilities and other sources
• Assisted with a training for facilitators
• Participated in the Resource Fair at IEP Day and on the planning committee for the annual conference
